Switch to these alternatives instead!

Are you tired of being forced to use these programs from those multi-billion-dollar companies (Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc.) and all they do is act like bloatware to your system. Even if you decided to remove these apps from your devices, who could replace these bloatware programs?

Luckily, we have located several alternatives to these programs that are considered lightweight, privacy-focused, trusted by experts and users, and 100% free!

Continue reading this blog post to uncover these alternatives and why they'll benefit your productivity and freedom.

(Note: We do not promote or advertise any scams or phishing websites for you! We have done extensive research and tests on these alternatives and have concluded, that they're safe to use!)

Alternatives you should be using in 2023!

1. Adobe Photoshop < GIMP

Why spend thousands of dollars on Adobe in general when you can just get GIMP for free. GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image manipulation and image editing, free-form drawing, transcoding between different image file formats, and more specialised tasks. It's not designed to be used for drawing, though some artists and creators have used it in this way.

GIMP is available on Windows, macOS and Linux devices.

2. Google Docs/Slides/Sheets < LibreOffice

Why should you use Google's boring office suite when you can just use LibreOffice. LibreOffice is a free and open-source office productivity software suite, a project of The Document Foundation (TDF).

The LibreOffice suite consists of programs for word processing, creating and editing spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, working with databases, and composing mathematical formulae. It is available in 115 languages. TDF does not provide support for LibreOffice, but enterprise-focused editions are available from companies in the ecosystem.

LibreOffice uses the OpenDocument standard as its native file format, but supports formats of most other major office suites, including Microsoft Office, through a variety of import and export filters.

LibreOffice is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS devices.

3. Snipping Tool < ShareX

Why bother using one of Microsoft's bloatware apps when you can use ShareX instead. ShareX is a free and open-source screenshot and screencast software for Windows. It is published under the GNU General Public License. The project's source code is hosted on GitHub. It is also available on the Microsoft Store and Steam.

ShareX is also lightweight in terms of using your system's hardware resources. ShareX can be used to capture full-screen or partial screenshots, such as rectangle capture and window capture. It can also record animated GIF files and videos using FFmpeg.

An included image editor lets users annotate captured screenshots, or modify them with borders, image effects, watermarks, etc. It's also possible to use the editor to draw on top of the windows or desktop before taking the screenshot.

ShareX is available on Windows devices only.

4. Gmail < Mozilla Thunderbird

Why should you use Gmail services when you can use a far more trustworthy email service like Mozilla Thunderbird. Made by the same company that developed Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird is a free and open-source cross-platform email client, personal information manager, news client, RSS and chat client that is operated by the Mozilla Foundation's subsidiary MZLA Technologies Corporation.

Thunderbird is an independent, community-driven project that is managed and overseen by the Thunderbird Council, which is elected by the Thunderbird Community. The project strategy was originally modelled after that of Mozilla's Firefox web browser and is an interface built on top of that web browser.

Mozilla Thunderbird is available on Windows, macOS and Linux devices.

5. Microsoft Store < Steam

(Note: This is applied to downloading videogames)

Who downloads video games from the Microsoft Store when you can just download Steam. Steam is a video game digital distribution service and storefront from Valve. It was launched as a software client in September 2003 to provide game updates automatically for Valve's games and expanded to distributing third-party titles in late 2005.

Steam offers various features, like digital rights management (DRM), game server matchmaking with Valve Anti-Cheat measures, social networking, and game streaming services. Steam client's functions include game update automation, cloud storage for game progress, and community features such as direct messaging, in-game overlay functions and a virtual collectable marketplace.

Steam is available on Windows, macOS and Linux devices.

(Note: They do have access to mobile devices but it's for security purposes)

6. PAINT < InfraView

Why use Microsoft's PAINT app when you can use something far more popular like InfraView. IrfanView is an image viewer, editor, organiser and converter program for Microsoft Windows. It can also play video and audio files and has some image creation and painting capabilities.

IrfanView is free for non-commercial use; commercial use requires paid registration. It's noted for its small size, speed, ease of use, and ability to handle a wide variety of graphic file formats. It was first released in 1996. IrfanView is named after its creator, Irfan Škiljan, from Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina, living in Vienna.

InfraView is available on Windows (Especially older versions), macOS and Linux devices.

7. Disk Cleanup < Glary Utilities

Why use Microsoft's generic and basic tool when you can have Glary Utilities. Glary Utilities is a system performance optimisation tool that aims to be a one-stop solution for improving your PC's speed and reliability. It can help diagnose and fix registry errors, remove spyware, and protect your privacy, all with just the click of a button.

Glary Utilities includes nearly 30 different tools for the maintenance and optimisation of your computer. Like most system optimisation tools, Glary Utilities has a button you can click that attempts to fix the most common problems that your computer may have.

I have already made a blog post about this particular app and why you should stop using CCleaner at once: Why you should stop using CCleaner!

Glary Utilities is available on Windows devices only.

8. Windows Security < Malwarebytes

Why use Windows lacked security when you can just use a trustworthy anti-virus named Malwarebytes. It's available in a free version, which scans for and removes malware when started manually, and a paid version, which additionally provides scheduled scans, real-time protection and a flash-memory scanner.

Malwarebytes is primarily a scanner that scans and removes malicious software, including rogue security software, adware, and spyware. Malwarebytes scans in batch mode, rather than scanning all files opened, reducing interference if another on-demand anti-malware software is also running on the computer.

Malwarebytes is available in both a free and a paid version. The free version can be run manually by the user when desired, whereas the paid version can perform scheduled scans, automatically scan files when opened, block IP addresses of malicious websites, and scan only those services, programs and device drivers that are currently in use.

Malwarebytes is available on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, and iOS devices.
